As a 3rd Dan Master Instructor and Certified Life Coach, Sensei Dulce Mauricio Martínez specializes in transforming students through elite discipline and mental resilience
“Martial arts didn’t just shape my character—they gave me the strength to stand back up when the world felt heavy.”
Dulce’s approach to martial arts is built on a foundation of structured discipline and professional responsibility. Born in December 1981 in Mexico City, her character was forged through early adversity. Following the loss of her father at age two, she was raised with an emphasis on resilience—instilling the core values of accountability and hard work that she now demands of every student at Ki-senshi.
Core Instructional Pillars:
Dulce’s early background in organized youth leadership provided her first masterclass in discipline and community service. These are the same principles she uses to bridge the gap between "gym training" and "life leadership."
By focusing on the "whole student," Dulce ensures that martial arts mastery is paired with personal responsibility, respect, and academic focus.
Having overcome significant personal challenges from a young age, she provides a unique, high-empathy environment where students learn to transform obstacles into opportunities for growth.
At age 16, Dulce’s life shifted. While many teenagers were searching for direction, she found hers in the structure of Karate. Inspired by her husband-to-be, David López Aguilar, she didn’t just attend classes—she fell in love with the grind.
Her dedication was so absolute that by the year 2000, she was selected for the State of Mexico’s Traditional Karate Team. This journey took her to the Otomí Ceremonial Center, a legendary high-altitude site used by Olympic athletes and world-class champions.
“Training at Otomí wasn’t just about technique; it was about the mental fortitude to push past physical limits. It taught me that excellence isn’t an act, but a habit.”
Just as her athletic career was reaching new heights, tragedy struck again with the loss of her mother in a sudden accident. In this period of deep grief and family transition, the dojo became more than a place of sport—it became her sanctuary and therapy.
Dulce proved that a Black Belt is more than a rank; it is a shield against life’s hardest blows. She used her training to transform profound sorrow into an unstoppable inner fire, a “Refuge of Strength” she now creates for her students.
In 2004, Dulce and David emigrated to the United States, navigating the hurdles of a new language and culture. By 2008, as a mother of three, Dulce realized her children needed the same discipline that saved her.
Seeing the untapped potential in her husband, she uttered the words that would change the East Valley forever: “Why don’t you teach them yourself?” That simple question ignited the flame. What began in a local park and a garage grew, through Dulce’s vision and David’s mastery, into Ki-senshi Martial Arts in 2011.
Sensei Dulce’s impact as an instructor is evidenced by the success of her own family. Having raised three children who have each earned the rank of Black Belt, her teaching methodology is a proven system for developing discipline, character, and high-level skill. Today, she integrates her Master-level rank with her Life Coach Certification to lead specialized programs focused on total person development.
Sensei Dulce Mauricio Martínez’s career is defined by verified excellence in both traditional martial arts and modern athletic competition. Her credentials represent a lifetime of dedication to the highest standards of the industry.
